ETC architectural products shine at IALD Awards
Date Posted: 6/7/2017
The International Association of Lighting Designers, an industry organization dedicated to setting the global standard for lighting design excellence, held their 34th annual International Lighting Design Awards on Wednesday, May 10, honoring the very
best of architectural lighting design. ETC was honored to have been a large part of several of the award-winning projects, deploying their versatile, innovative technology to help designers achieve their spectacular installations.
“ETC has always been a great supporter of the IALD International Design Awards program and we enjoy our participation in the sponsorship of the Education Trust Dinner each year at Lightfair,” said Karl Haas, Architectural National Sales Manager for ETC. “This
year, we were extremely happy to be a part of many of the award winning projects—a total of 8—ranging from the Award of Excellence for the Harbin Opera House to the Special Citation Award for the ‘1.8’ art installation by Janet Echelman.”
Other ETC contributions included controlling the lighting on the facades of both a Manhattan skyrise and the National Museum of African American History and Culture; programming fixtures alongside (and sometimes under) the Chicago river; powering LEDs meant
to evoke 19th-century gas lighting and more. Winning designs included representatives from ETC’s Unison Echo®, Paradigm®, and Mosaic® lines of architectural solutions and incorporated control systems, regular and custom distribution products, and even emergency
lighting components.
Projects which utilized ETC equipment and expertise are included below. A full list of award winners can be found on the
IALD website.
