International Fred Foster Student Mentorship Program 2021

HANNA KRITTEN TANGSOO
Hanna Kritten Tangsoo is an Estonian lighting designer and choreographer based in Berlin, Germany. She studied Dance in Tartu University Viljandi Culture Academy in Estonia 2011-2014 and BA Dance, Context, Choreography in Hochschulübergreifendes Zentrum Tanz (HZT) / University of Arts Berlin 2014-2017. During her studies in HZT, Hanna spent a lot of her time experimenting and learning about light in the context of dance. Since 2017 she has been working as a freelance artist in both dance and lighting. Hanna Kritten is particularly interested in how the power of light and visibility relates to the body in dance.

KEVIN MURPHY
Kevin studies at The Lir Academy in Ireland and is passionate about lighting design and lighting technology. He hopes to be working as a lighting designer after graduation and is keen to learn more about different artistic cultures and the different aspects of stage design. Kevin enjoys the collaborative nature of the practice and the ability to be able to contribute to a piece of art from a lighting perspective. In 2018, Kevin won Best Lighting Design for ‘Alone It Stands’ at the ISDA Awards and Outstanding Lighting Design for ‘Deirdre+Naoise’ at the NUIG Dramsoc Awards.

KRISTEN (CHRIS) KIRSIMAE
Kristen graduated from the University of Tartu Viljandi Culture Academy in Estonia this summer and currently works as a lighting technician at the Vaba Lava Theater Center. He has always been enthusiastic about the creative and performing arts, particularly the world of lighting design for theatre. In the future, Kristen aspires to create high quality lighting designs for large productions abroad and is especially interested in lighting installations of all sizes.

LEE SANGMIN
Lee is a student at the Seoul Institute of the Arts in South Korea. He is keen to pursue a career in lighting design and programming. Lee was inspired by a teacher at his school, Professor Hansu Na who teaches not only lighting but also the character of an artist and the value of performance. Lee is interested in various genres including music and dance and aspires to continue exploring the arts and making them shine with lighting.

OWEN CLARKE
Owen recently graduated from Trinity College Dublin as an electronic engineering student. He was elected as technical manager of his college drama society and over the year long term gained the experience and skills which led him to work as a freelance designer and technician within the Dublin theatre scene. Owen enjoys the tactile hands-on element of working with lamps, programming desks and LEDs etc. He is eager to connect with industry professionals and develop his lighting design skill-set further.

PETE ANDREI FABRICANTE
Pete Andrei will graduate from the University of the Philippines Diliman in 2022. He is also completing a bachelor’s program in Theatre Arts and has a keen interest in lighting design specifically for theatre. Pete Andrei is fascinated with learning more about light itself, exploring its reflection in mirrors, how some colors absorb others and how gels affect it. He hopes to be able to help his country discover more innovative ways of using light especially to help productions with lower budgets.

TOBY NANSON
Toby will be graduating from Falmouth University in 2022 with a degree in technical theatre. He has been eager to pursue a career in the lighting industry from an early age and is currently developing his skills in lighting design which he looks forward to learning more about. Toby was previously a part of the Technical Youth Theatre team at the Chichester Festival Theatre and received a distinction for a diploma in Production Arts. Toby’s greatest aspiration would be to be involved in West End productions and large-scale live events in a technical capacity.

VICTORIA MONDELLO
Victoria is studying at the New York University in Abu Dhabi and is eager to pursue a career in lighting design. Upon graduation in 2022, she first plans to gain experience as a lighting technician in the technical world and is interested in both theatrical lighting and concert design. She is inspired by the creative freedom that concert design presents but also enjoys the story driven element of lighting for theatre. In 2020, Victoria received awards for being a finalist in Collaborative and Innovative Leadership as part of the Leadership Awards.
