High End Systems announces Hog Factor finale at Prolight + Sound 2018
Date Posted: 1/31/2018
High End Systems (an ETC company) invites students and apprentices to participate in a lighting show programming competition. The most impressive performances will make it to the final round at Prolight + Sound, Frankfurt on 11 April from 5pm (Hall 4/Stand D59).
The Hog Factor competition offers a great opportunity for students and trainees to try their hand on a large rig equipped with around 100 moving lights and demonstrate their creativity and lighting design skills. And all this in front of an international audience and
a competent jury of experts.
To enter the contest, participants (minimum age: 16 years) have to program a light show for the Sia hit "Never Give Up" and record the visualization on video. The clip needs to be uploaded, along with an application form, to the High End Systems website
(link and further information below).
A jury, consisting of High End Systems staff and the Hog Factor team, will select three finalists from all entries received. The winning teams will then compete against each other live on April 11 at Prolight + Sound. Individuals and teams of up to three people
are invited to participate. Each finalist is responsible for his or her own travel arrangements.
The finalists will be given time in advance to familiarize themselves with the technique and rig; a Hog expert will be at their side to guide them. The competitors will need to possess a great deal of technical know-how and lighting design talent as they must play back
their preprogrammed shows live; time code programming or learned timing are not permitted.
International lighting designers, experienced programmers and product experts form the jury in Frankfurt. The winner (or the winning team) can not only look forward to a prestigious title, which is highly regarded in the industry, but also to a special prize – details
to be announced soon. Furthermore, all Prolight Hog Factor qualifying entries will be automatically entered into a separate prize draw. A winner, selected at random, will be awarded a prize donated by High End Systems.
If you’d like to take part but would like to first familiarize yourself with
Hog 4, dedicated Hog Factor training sessions are being held at LMP in Ibbenbühren and at ETC GmbH in Holzkirchen (near Munich). These one-day training events will run from 10am to 5pm and will be free of charge.
Sarah Clausen, product manager for Hog consoles says: "Rarely can students or apprentices play with such a huge rig. I can only recommend all interested parties seize this unique opportunity and register."
