ETC and CDM2 team up for second annual day of training and demos

On a blustery day in February, ETC, Inc. and
CDM2 Lightworks, ETC’s lighting and rigging rep in Vancouver, B.C., teamed up for a day of education about lighting color and control. Held at the Annex theatre in downtown Vancouver, attendees sampled from sessions where they could learn about how physiology affects the perception of color, the latest in LED advances, and how ETC products can contribute to the overall safety of a building.
“We always love the opportunity to share knowledge about where the lighting industry is heading, and to show how ETC helps companies and individuals take their lighting to the next level,” said Randy Pybas, Western Regional Manager for Entertainment at ETC. “Judging from the positive response from attendees, they were able to take away some key knowledge too!”
Theatre sessions included one showcasing how ETC gear can make the theatre a safer environment, with applications in rigging, lighting and electrical infrastructure. Architecture sessions included a briefing on LED color theory and how it impacts system design for interior and exterior architectural applications, presented for AIBC continuing education credit. Other sessions included in-depth looks at networking, wireless DMX theory and configuration and a showcase of new products. Of course there was also plenty of opportunity to get some hands-on demos and training time with the latest ETC gear, including the powerful and compact
Ion Xe console, and the
ColorSource Cyc, winner of Best Debuting Product at LDI 2017.
Audiences grew in the second year of the event, prompting plans for expansion and improvements for next year’s version.
“We’re happy the event has been such a hit with the lighting community here,” said Darren Luce, president of CDM2 Lightworks. “Events like this are a great opportunity to showcase not only the latest products, but the ability for ETC and CDM2 to support designers’ vision with technical know-how and a robust presence.”
