The city of Madison was built around the flagship University of Wisconsin-Madison. UW-Madison, along with the other four institutes of higher learning in the city, host a variety of events,
seminars, classes and museum and art exhibits that are open to members of the community.
Madison is home to:
- UW-Madison, which is ranked 41st on US News and World Report’s 2016 list of Best Colleges
- Edgewood College, Madison College, the Madison Media Institute, and Herzing University
- A long list of museums, such as the Wisconsin Historical Museum, Wisconsin Veterans Museum, UW-Madison Geology Museum, and the Madison Science Museum
