One of the best new features in Mosaic Designer 2 is the ability to import and export data into and from a .CSV file. This makes it really easy to transfer information between shows. Or to take position information from a drawing and add it to a Layout. You can import and export Fixture data, Pixel Matrices, KiNET power supply information, Universe data, and MTPC interfaces.
Data is exported from Mosaic via the ‘hamburger’ menu in top right of the program by selecting “Export”. Next you’ll choose which object you wish to export, available objects will be listed in green. Only 1 object may be selected at a time.
Fixtures are exported on a Layout by Layout basis, once the layout has been selected, you’ll be given an option to choose the data you wish to export for that specific layout. You can export the following properties from fixtures. At least one these properties must be selected:

KiNET power supplies export the following fields for all ballasts in the show file:
You can export the following patched Universes:
Exported properties appear in a spreadsheet in the order in which they shown in the “Properties to Export” column. You can reorder individual properties by dragging and dropping items in the list. Once you have selected desired properties, click export. Files will export as a .CSV file and are editable in any CSV viewer such as Excel and Numbers.
MTPC Interfaces export as .DAT files in their entirety, individual pages or elements cannot be selected.
Data is imported via the hamburger Settings menu by selecting ‘Import Object’. Files are imported one of two ways, as a text based file (.csv, .tsv, .txt), or as MTPC interface 9 (.dat, .ptc, .mtc, .stc) file.
When selecting a text file, the Import Object wizard will appear. Four data types can be imported on this screen; Fixture, Pixel Matrix, KiNET Power Supply and patch information.
File delimiters and object properties are also set on this page. Object properties are specific to the data type that is being imported.
When importing fixture data, you must choose a destination. Data can be imported to an existing layout, chosen via the dropdown, or placed on a new layout.
If you don’t wish to import a particular property, select the column and the change the “Column Property” box to “ignore”.
When you import a Pixel Matrix it is placed directly into the pixel matrix list on the layout tab. We recommend you that you rename your pixel matrix immediately after import.
KiNET information imports directly to patch screen. If there is an existing KiNET universe, the import adds objects to the existing universe. If no KiNET universes exist, a new one is created.
Patch information is imported based on the information found in the “Protocol” and “Universe number” columns. Be careful, as importing a universe number already in the configuration will clear all existing patching from the target universe.
MTPC interfaces are imported into the interface tab and must be imported in their entirety.
