Network Troubleshooting and Resources

Most networking topics are not unique to entertainment control, and many additional resources are available online and elsewhere to learn more about these concepts.

Troubleshooting

In-depth information about various networking hardware and software is available via the ETC Knowledge Management System (KMS). Maintained by ETC's excellent Technical Services team, the KMS provides a wealth of explanatory and troubleshooting resources for current and legacy ETC, High End, and RAYN products.

The KMS should be the primary resource used for troubleshooting ETC equipment and products.

sACN Output Viewer

In Eos v2.7.0 and later, the sACN Output Viewer [Tab 37] is available on [Tab] [3][7], allowing you to check the current live outputs on a universe by universe basis.

Ping

{Ping} is available in the Eos Configuration Utility (ECU) under Settings > Network, and can be used to test whether there is network communication between Eos and other network devices. Ping can also be run on a computer via the Windows® Command Prompt and macOS® Terminal utilities.

Ping only establishes that there is a valid network connection between two devices. Other network issues may cause communication problems that ping cannot diagnose.

Software

The following software may be useful when troubleshooting networking issues or configuring network devices.

  • Concert - an ETC utility included on Eos consoles or available for download, providing remote monitoring and configuration of network hardware. See etcconnect.com/concert.
  • sACNview - a free, open-source, third-party utility for monitoring and testing sACN sources and addresses. See sacnview.org.
  • Wireshark - a free third-party utility for capturing raw packet data to analyze various network protocols. See wireshark.org.

Systems with certain legacy products may need to use older software.

  • Gateway Configuration Editor (GCE) - a legacy ETC utility included on Eos consoles or available for download, providing remote monitoring and configuration of Net3 and Net2 networks and hardware.
  • Network Configuration Editor (NCE) - a legacy ETC utility included on Eos consoles or available for download, providing remote monitoring and configuration of Net2 networks and hardware.
