2014 LDI Student Sponsorship program

ETC's 2014 LDI Student Sponsorship program is now officially accepting applications. Graduate students and university-level seniors from around the world will be given the unique opportunity to gain real-world experience and make connections in the industry. Those selected to participate in the program receive an all-expense-paid trip to the LDI tradeshow, which will be held November 21st - 23rd, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Students studying light design, theater technology or a related major are encouraged to apply.

A distinctive aspect of ETC's LDI Student Sponsorship is mentor-matching, where students are paired with luminaries in the lighting world who will offer them advice, guidance and support as they embark on industry careers. "The people I was introduced to and the events I was able to attend through ETC's mentorship and guidance still blow my mind," says Daphne Mir, who was one recipient of a 2012 LDI Student Sponsorship. "I feel like I was given a skeleton key to ask questions and learn from anyone in the industry. I'm looking forward to seeing where all these open doors take me."

Six finalists (five from the U.S. and one international student) will be selected for the Student Sponsorship and will attend LDI in November. Applicants must be a senior at a university level or attending graduate school at the time of the LDI tradeshow . Applications are available at www.etcconnect.com/LDIsponsorship , and may be submitted either electronically or by mail. Applications must be received no later than May 23rd, 2014.

Costs covered by the sponsorship include hotel accommodations, round-trip airfare, meals, full LDI 2014 conference passes, and exclusive ETC swag. Student Sponsorship recipients will also get a backstage look at the ETC tradeshow booth and the latest ETC technologies. Students will have also have ample time for networking, including at the annual ETC-hosted student reception, which is attended by industry-renowned lighting designers, educators, consultants, journalists and employers.
