Atika El Sayed started her career in Paris as product manager in a lab instrumentation company called Gilson, one of the major international manufacturers of high quality precision micro-pipettes and automated liquid robotic systems. Her role progressed there from product manager to CEO of the group in Middleton, Wisconsin. These positions gave her a real understanding of technical product manufacturing and commercialization going from the R&D steps to their sales support.
In 2001, Gilson gave El Sayed the responsibility of creating an innovative business in a new area for the company: informative eyewear/augmented reality. A start-up, Eyeneo, was set up to develop and commercialize one of the first consumer affordable eyewear of the market called Eyetop.
In 2015, El Sayed joined Odgers Berndtson, a British executive search company, as head of the life sciences practice in France. In 2017, she created her own consulting company, Strema, dedicated to strategic planning and business management.
El Sayed is a French citizen born in Morocco, educated at INSA and University Claude Bernard in Lyon where she obtained her PhD in Biomedical engineering.
