ETC SiteBox Technical Requirements for Connection with ETC SiteLink
Network Requirements
Internet Connection
ETC SiteBox is equipped with both a full-duplex wired 10/100/1000BASE-T RJ45 connector (preferred) and an 802.11ax Wi-Fi 6 interface for Internet connectivity. Either may be used, but only one is selected during installation. We recommend terminating a Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6a port near the ETC SiteBox connecting to the network with Internet access.
ETC SiteBox may require up to 40 Mbps Upload and Download for consistent performance. Bandwidth constraints beneath this threshold may result in a degraded user experience.
ETC Control System Connection
ETC SiteBox is equipped with a full-duplex wired 10/100BASE-T Wired RJ45 connector for the ETC Control Network (Lighting and/or Rigging). We recommend terminating a network port near the ETC SiteBox using Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6a cable connecting to ETC Control Network.
Firewall and Network Configuration
All connections via the Internet Access network are initiated by ETC SiteBox. This port should be within standard IT best practice security boundaries for a corporate intranet device.
Communications on the ETC Control Network may be initiated by ETC SiteBox or by other control products. In typical usage, this network would not be firewalled or routed between ETC SiteBox and the other control products.
The two networks are not expected to allow intercommunication or routing. Additionally, ETC SiteBox traffic is distinct between the two interfaces; the two networks carry different traffic and are not bridged.
Internet Connection
ETC SiteBox initiates communication to ETC SiteLink and time servers over the Internet Access network.
Port | Host | Protocol | Use |
---|---|---|---|
443 | *.etcsitelink.io | TCP | HTTPS communication with ETC SiteLink cloud services. Device firmware updates. |
123 | *.nist.gov *.pool.ntp.org |
UDP | NTP time synchronization |
80 | cacert.etcconnect.com | TCP | This HTTP connection is needed if a long enough amount of time has passed that the certificate trust store on the device is out of date. This connection is not required for day to day operation but may need to be allowed during initial setup of the box. |
TCP (HTTPS) traffic to the ETC SiteLink cloud is Bi-Directional and includes WebSocket traffic. UDP (NTP) traffic is Bi-Directional. TCP (http) traffic to cacert.etcconnect.com is inbound (internet to ETC SiteBox) only and is used to update system certificates prior to initiating the secured firmware update process.
ETC Control System Connection
ETC SiteBox uses a variety of ports and protocols to communicate with other products on the ETC Control Network. If your ETC Control Network is also managed, please contact ETC Technical Services for assistance in identifying the ports and protocols used in your system.
