DALI Overview
DALI is a two-wire lighting protocol used for configuration, control, and reporting of compatible ballasts and drivers (DALI control gear). Each DALI bus (DALI subnet) can support up to 64 addresses (typically one address per DALI control gear), not including application controllers. Each bus must have a DALI bus power supply (or supplies) with sufficient current to support the devices hosted on the bus but not to exceed 250mA. DALI bus wiring is topology free. The wiring length of a DALI system is approximately 300 meters depending on variables such as conductor size and material.
The Response DALI Gateway Mk2 provides the ability for a DMX or sACN system to interface with a DALI system. This gateway is classified as a Single-Master Application Controller and can communicate with both DALI and DALI-2 control gear. Only one gateway (Single-Master Application Controller) is allowed per DALI bus.
- Each gateway has four ports and each port hosts a unique DALI subnet.
- The gateway allows support for up to 256 DALI control gear (64 per port).
- Each port includes an integrated DALI bus power supply with up to 130 mA of guaranteed supply current.
- The power supply can be enabled and disabled per port in the event an external DALI bus power supply is preferred or required based on site conditions.
- The gateway mounts to standard 35 mm symmetric DIN rail.
