Networking for Lighting Technicians
Nowadays, more and more network devices are coming into the theatre- and event-lighting industry! Most event and theatre technicians know DMX and electricity, but aren’t too familiar with network hardware, IP addresses and protocols. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t, but we aren’t sure why. This course is here to give you basic knowledge to work with networks and to help you troubleshoot problems in the lighting network in your theatres or at events.
This course is a mixture of lecture, discussion and practical hands-on training! It is intended for lighting technicians, project engineers, and technical salespeople from ETC dealerships.
Course Topics:
- DMX + RDM
- Network Basics
- IP Addressing
- Network Protocols, including ArtNet, ACN, sACN
- Software for Configuration, Monitoring
No previous knowledge or training is necessary. A laptop with a Windows XP, 7 or 8 Operating System is recommended, but not necessary.
