Cue Triggers

Triggers can be used to tie actions such as macros, show control, or snapshots to cue or cue list playback. You can also trigger the playback of additional cues or cue lists, if available.

{Execute}

When used after selecting a cue via the command line, {Execute} will open a trigger display in the CIA.

The table on the right lists all triggers associated with the selected cue, along with their reference labels. The delete icon will remove the trigger on that line. Buttons for common trigger targets are available on the left, or can be used via the softkeys below.

{Cue}

Enter a cue or cue list to be executed when the cue or cue list is played back. Cues can execute cues in any cue list. If the executed cue is in another cue list, it will play back simultaneously with the primary cue. If the executed cue is in the same cue list, the primary cue list will jump to that position.

Cue lists can only execute other cue lists. Playing back cues on the primary cue list will automatically play back cues of the same number on any executed cue lists. If a primary cue number does not exist in an executed list, only the primary cue will play. If a cue number in an executed list does not exist in the primary, those cues are skipped.

If a cue in the primary list is played back out of sequence, only cues with the same number on executed cue lists will play back. {OOS Sync} can be enabled to make sure executed lists advance at the same rate as the primary list, regardless of whether the cue numbers match.

{String}

Enter an RS232, UDP, or ACN string to be sent when the cue or cue list is played back. See Sending String Commands.

{Macro}

Run one or more specified Macros when the cue or cue list is played back. Each macro must be entered separately as an individual trigger.

{Relay}

{On} and {Off}

{Snapshot}

Recall a specified snapshot when the cue or cue list is played back. See Snapshots.

{OOS Sync}

Note: Not available on Element Classic.

Disabled by default. When enabled on an executed cue list, the playback of any out of sequence primary list cue will trigger the earliest cue that exists on the executed list if the correct cue does not. When disabled, cues in executed cue lists will only be triggered by primary cues of the same number.

For example, cue list 1, which contains cues 1 through 10, is executing cue list 2, which contains cues 4 through 8, and has {OOS Sync} enabled. When cue 1/3 is fired, cue 2/4 will play back, since cue 2/3 does not exist. If cue list 2 did not have {OOS Sync} enabled, cue 1/3 would fire, and cue list 2 would do nothing.

{OSC Cue Recv String}

Enter an incoming OSC string format to associate with a specified cue list. Overrides the OSC Cue Receive String setting in Setup > System > Show Control. This trigger cannot be used for individual cues.

{OSC Cue Send String}

Enter an outgoing OSC string format to associate with a specified cue list. Overrides the OSC Cue Send String setting in Setup > System > Show Control. This trigger cannot be used for individual cues.

{Go After Loop}

Executes the next cue after a follow link/loop sequence has ended. By default, the loop will end with the last cue in the sequence. {Go After Loop} will use the follow time assigned to the last cue in the sequence.

  • [Cue] [5] {Execute} {Go After Loop} [Enter] - assigns the {Go After Loop} command to cue 5. Go After Loop will display in the Ext Links Column of the Cue List index and the PSD. After Cue 5 has completed all loops, it will execute the next cue.

{MIDI Raw}

Execute an entered MIDI Raw string when the cue is played back. See Sending MIDI Raw with Cues or Submasters.

A variety of command line syntax is available when working with triggers:
