ETC will step behind – and in front of – the camera lens at the NAB 2012 tradeshow in Las Vegas, Nevada, April 16-19th. With a vast lineup of new products and time-honored favorites, ETC is turning our NAB tradeshow booth (#C11749) into a broadcast studio to give you the best look at our product innovations in a real-life application.

ETC’s ‘Layers of Light’ studio will demonstrate how broadcast-lighting designers can create light that looks great in person and on camera by layering different types of fixtures – everything from conventional tungsten units to contemporary LED luminaires – into a scene. The rig will include Source Four LED™ profile spots, Selador Classic Pearl™ LED striplights, Source Four Fresnels™, and conventional Source Four® fixtures, along with Selador Desire Studio™ LED luminaires that were designed specifically for broadcast installations. ETC’s new Sensor3 Power Control™ system will provide dimming, and the newest Eos®-family control console – Gio™ – will control the rig. The system will light a news desk, which will be filmed by a camera and shown live on a television screen in ETC’s booth. You’ll see instantly how the light looks on screen, and learn how you can get the same results for your lighting applications.

The Layers of Light studio will feature several recently introduced ETC products that will be making their NAB debut this year. The first is the Source Four LED, ETC’s latest layer of light. We designed the Source Four LED with a light quality that lives up to the ‘Source Four’ brand, including smooth fades, a flat field, sharp shuttering, image clarity and a rich, full spectrum. The Source Four LED can produce either a sharp beam of focusable light or a smooth wash, while outperforming other profile LEDs with its 30 to 40 lumens-per-watt ratio. The Source Four LED also features the same user-interface that made ETC’s Selador Desire™ line of LED luminaires popular, allowing you to customize each fixture for specific applications like studio work. It is available in three versions: Daylight for high-efficiency, cool-spectrum white light; Tungsten for super-efficient, warm-spectrum white light that emulates tungsten lighting; and the incredibly flexible Lustr+™for vibrant colored lighting courtesy of the x7 Color System™ or adjustable white light that flatters skin tones.

Also on ETC’s NAB 2012 tradeshow booth will be the Sensor3 Power Control system, the futuristic new platform in our award-winning Sensor® line. It regulates the latest fixtures on studio rigs and those yet to come, including conventional fixtures, arc light sources and solid-state fixtures. The ThruPower three-in-one module remotely changes between constant power, on/off relay switching, and dimming for all of your incandescent loads. Sensor3’s RideThru and BatteryPack options ensure power to the controller during outages, and the CEM3 module offers 16-bit fade resolution and advanced curve adjustments for tuning fades across load types.

At NAB, we will also show a presentation about the Foundation Rigging Controller™, the latest ETC Rigging™ innovation. Working with any Prodigy™ variable-speed or combination fixed- and variable-speed rigging system, it promises the highest level of safety while controlling up to 48 hoists effortlessly and quietly. It offers automated movements, presets, cue stacks and lead/lag cueing. Ongoing system diagnostics keep you updated throughout use, and lockable controls mean you don’t have to worry about unintended changes. The Foundation Rigging Controller accepts up to 999 rigging controls for a range of scene-change possibilities.
