DC Voltage on Echo Room Controller 0-10v Header

Symptoms/Issue

  • I am metering up to 24vdc on the Echo Room Controller 0-10v header with nothing connected.
  • I am metering up to 24vdc on the Echo Room Controller 0-10v header with wires connected but the ballast isn’t on.

Description/Explanation of Issue

The Echo Room Controller has a couple different 24vdc power supplies in its circuitry that serve various purposes internal to the Room Controller itself as well as the EchoConnect Power Supply and the Aux Power headers. Because of the design of the control card’s circuitry, it is possible to sometimes meter up to 24vdc on the 0-10v headers or the Panic, AV Input and Demand Response headers. The meter is simply showing you a floating potential and when a load is connected to these headers, this potential is removed. There is no current to it, and there is no risk of damage to the Control Card or any connected equipment from this potiential 24vdc. If you have any questions or concerns about the above information, please contact ETC Technical Services.
