Updating Eos Family Software

How to update software on an Eos Family console or Net3 RVI:

To find the version of your console's software, please see this article: Finding the Software Version on an Eos Family Console

step 1)

Download the latest software and release notes from the ETC website at etcconnect.com.  Open the zip file and save its contents (files) to a USB drive.  The installer should be on the root directory of the flash drive (that is, not in any folders).

Note: There may be both Console software and Offline/Client software. To update an Eos Family console, RPU, or a Net3 RVI in Eos Family mode you will need the console software. If you use a client PC or Mac to connect to the system, you should also download the offline/client update and install it on that machine.  There will be both a PC and Mac version available on the download page.

Important: Check the Release Notes of the software for any special instructions about installation.

step 2)

Go to the system shell.

a)

If you are currently in the console application, this may be accomplished by choosing "Exit Eos" (or "Exit Ion"/"Exit Element") from the browser menu.  Later software versions simply have the "Exit" option across all consoles.

b)

If you are currently rebooting the console, you can reach the shell by clicking on the "Launching in …" countdown box.

step 3)

Insert the USB drive with the console software into an open USB port.

step 4)

Select {Settings} from the main shell menu.

step 5)

Select {General} This is on the RIGHT hand side of the screen.

step 6)

Scroll down and select {Software Update}. This is on the LEFT hand side of the screen.

step 7)

The console will look through any connected flash drive and show available installers. Select the one you wish to install, and click {Install}.

step 8)

Answer any on-screen questions and follow any on-screen instructions. If asked, let the console reboot at the conclusion of the installation.
