KnowledgeBase: Instructions for replacing CMOS batteries in Obsession

1. You will need the monitor plugged into the processor itself for this process.  To make sure that your CMOS battery is at fault, press [F1] as the processor boots up.  It will prompt you for this as the processor turns on.  If you miss, it just turn it off and try again.  Once you are looking at the CMOS settings initial screen, you will see the time and date at the top.  If it says that the year is 1980, then your battery will need replacing.
2. Open the case and change the battery.  It is a 1” silver disk located just beside the drive bays on the motherboard.  Your fingernail should be enough to lift it off of the board but be careful not to break the tabs.  It should also just press back down with minimal effort but again be careful.
3. Download the attached Dos_boot.zip file.  Open it and click on the Dos_boot.exe file within it making sure to have a floppy disk in the A: drive.  This file will automatically make you a boot disk which when inserted into your Obsession processor, before turning it on, will take you to a DOS prompt.
4. Insert the disk you just made into your Obsession processor and turn it on.  When the boot process stops it should show you a

   C:\ETC>

   prompt with a flashing cursor and some sample DOS commands above it.  Type

   obsncmos

   at the prompt exactly as it is written here, then press [Enter].  It will say that the CMOS was bad but is now fixed.  Remove the disk and reboot.  You have just reset your CMOS!
