KnowledgeBase: Can I use SMPTE with the Express Console? This page is locked to prevent further edits

SMPTE is not directly supported on the Express line of control consoles.

However, the Express line does support ETC MIDI, MIDI Show Control (MSC) and MIDI Time Code so it's possible to use SMPTE with an Express console if you use a SMPTE to MIDI generator.

Enable the type of MIDI you wish to use in the Options settings on the console. Remember that MIDI can be received and transmitted from the console.

Each device (the receiver and the transmitter) must have its own unique ID number. To Use MIDI Time Code, set up the events in Time Code Events.

The Express user manual can help you identify the MIDI commands, or please contact ETC Technical Services for further assistance.
