hi there,

i don't understand  why there's no ASCII standard over lightboard.

it won't be difficult to write one according to USITT ASCII specifications + modern parameters

You are completely right that it's really easy to write an ASCII standard.
But it's almost impossible to get everyone to agree to the same one...

Look at the history of lighting control, and how long it took to get everyone to agree about DMX!

Keep on trying till you run out of cake.

hi,

We need a ASCII Light Cue standard.

Can AVAB developpers give their opinions about that ?

I can work on that, with anybody who's interested.

I'm not sure how to make this clearer...

ETC/AVAB have already developed an extended USITT-ASCII Light Cues standard. It was used in Pronto etc, and is now used in Congo as well.

Strand Lighting UK developed an extended USITT-ASCII Light Cues standard. It's used by their Showport program.

I expect that MA Lighting, Jands, High End and everybody else have also looked at creating an extended USITT-ASCII Light Cues standard.

They are all different!

The challenge here has absolutely nothing to do with a standard itself. The challenge is almost entirely political.

Keep on trying till you run out of cake.
