Does anyone know of a specific model of Ethernet switch that is powered by POE so I can extend a run of network beyond 100 meters?
I am on a project where the path needed to get from the equipment rack to the dimmers is beyond the Cat5 limit of 100m. While I may be able to get AC power for a Sensor Net box, I was thinking it might just be easier to get a switch that is powered by POE and then run the 2 runs I need to the dimmers from there (as they don't need POE.)
Thanks in advance to anyone who has info.

How about an HP/3Com Intelljack?. They provide a 4 port switch powered off PoE

That may be a possibility. Thanks for the suggestion.
Or the HP 1810-8G POE Switch

If you need POE passed through the extending switch, be aware that the power provided by switch A will be significantly reduced by switch B.See the conversation we've been having here:

Good luck!

Thanks for the heads up, but that isn't a problem here. I've got a couple of dimmer racks that are about 50' beyond the 100m limit for cat5e. This is just a switch to get me beyond 100m.
The Intellijacks use PoE to power the switch as far as 100 meters, where it's then non PoE the remaining 100 meters, so that might do the trick.
