I tried pinging the master from the laptop and all is fine.

However, when trying to run the client software SLPD is NOT running (only EOS.exe)

Is it significant that I never saw the Eos Configuration Utility with the fresh install of 1.4.5?

HANG ON.....

I've just read that back and it didn't make much sense so I checked my files again and the realised I was updating with 1.4.5 CONSOLE software instead of 1.4.5 OFFLINE/CLIENT. (Both looking very similar on my PC!) Uninstalled and reinstalled the offline/client and....yes of course it works!

Thanks for your help. My fault.....blame it on the unseasonal hot London weather

Cheers Liam.

Re: Connecting laptop client to Eos network

I can think of a couple of things to try :

- Try Pinging the master from the laptop to check that basic network communication is still OK. Windows key + R, type cmd <enter>, then ping 10.101.95.101<enter>. If you get good ping replies then the network connection is OK, if not, check your cables

- Is SLPD running? SLPD is a process that Eos needs to 'find' your console. With the Client running, hit CTRL+ALT+DELETE and Taskmanager. Look in the 'processes' tab for SLPD.exe.

If it's not there then we need to investigate further why it might not be starting..

Tom

Connecting laptop client to Eos network

I Had offline editor 1.4.3 installed on laptop and that ran fine. Finally got client dongle and installed that. Ran laptop software again (not offline) and it ran ECU/shell and I tried to connect as client (ID user 3). Had to troubleshoot and then it listed my RPU Master as available to connect to.

I tried to connect to that and was told that they must both be running same version of software. Fair enough, RPU and EOS console both running 1.4.5.

Put the 1.4.5 installer on the laptop and ran the installer which said it was updating the laptop from 1.4.3 to 1.4.5. All seemed fine but when I ran the software it came up with "QtGui4.dll not found"

I then uninstalled and then installed 1.4.5 on the laptop again. This time it ran fine (but with no ECU/shell options, just straight to the online client) but couldn't now find a Master to connect to. Just says "No Master" and all I can do is run in Offline mode

Master is an RPU, ip 10.101.95.101

Backup is an EOS, ip 10.101.90.101

Client Laptop is ip 10.101.1.101

I can see the laptop from the main console and I can run the GCE from the laptop fine and edit gateways no problem.

Any ideas or obvious mistakes? There doesn't appear to be any documentation
