In EOS 1.8, I'm having a problem with recording lamp controls into macros.  If I "learn" the keystrokes, running the macro does not perform the lamp control, it selects the channels but seems to have no effect otherwise.

The exact syntax that is shown in the macro editor is:

Group 301 [enter] Lamp_controls Lamp_control Fixture_Global_Wakeup [enter][enter]

Is there a special trick to using lamp controls in macros?

Try this:

Group 301 Lamp_control Fixture_Global_Wakeup [enter][enter]

I have found the first "Lamp_controls" to problematic and not necessary. You also don't need the first enter.

Thanks Tim- your suggestion worked.

I noticed a couple of things while making macros for lamp on, lamp off and fixture shutdown-

  • I tried to build a macro from scratch, but I can't get the lamp controls to appear in the macro command list while editing.  The touchscreen tiles for the various lamp controls have no effect.   I had to "learn" all of the macros in order to get the lamp control commands to appear in the macro.
  • Once I had the macros working and was able to recall them using the "macro" button in Live, I removed the final [enter] so that confirmation from the board op is needed before lamping off or shutting down the fixtures.  I set the macros to be executed by cues at the end of the show.  When the cues run, the macro commands do not appear on the command line, so there is no way to give the confirmation [enter].

Yeah, I found through trial and error that I learn the lamp control macros also and then edit them until they work.
