Our system: EOS console (backup), RPU (master), RVI, laptop client.
In setting up the latptop as a mirrored client, I discovered that you can only mirror the master device unless you use the USB client dongle. When using the dongle, I can mirror any of the devices on the network - RPU, console, and RVI. Without the dongle, the only selection available is the RPU (master). Is this a designed limitation?

I believe this is as-designed - but I believe you can mirror a mirror as well. In real life this would lead to a cascading series of mirrors and/or possibly our hero not knowing which is the real villain and which is a reflection. In Eos, however, you should be able to set the RPU to mirror the Console and then see the same screens on all devices.

That seems like a lot of layers of mirroring and very complicated. I also prefer to leave the RPU in patched channels flexi and tombstone display, whereas the console's flexi and display modes are the operator's (and designer's) preference.
I just read the 1.8 manual supplement and see that the limitation is mentioned there. I would like to vote for the option to select either the master or backup without using the client dongle. That would make the loss of the dongle less painful.
