I have a LCD monitor plugged into the VGA output on my ION. When I boot up the board the monitor works fine then once the show loads the monitor enters into "power save mode". I have been into the external monitor settings and re-enabled the 2nd monitor. Then after applying the changes, it automatically un-enables the monitor again. Any suggestions???

It sounds like the monitor does not support 1280x1024 resolution, which is what the VGA port will default to when the OS has loaded - it is much lower before which is why you see the BIOS screen without problems.

The VGA port is monitor 1, not 2 - you will need to attach a monitor (DVI or VGA) that supports 1280 resolution, and then lower the resolution setting for monitor 1. I would start with 1024x768.

Alternatively, you can usually find DVI monitors that support 1280+ resolution relatively cheaply.

Hmm. Helpful hint but the I have had that monitor since I bought the board about 5-6 months ago and it has always worked just fine. The issue started occuring yesterday after one of my crew member accidentally pulled power to the console without properly shutting down the system. I have an elo touch screen in my DVI output that still works just fine. Any other suggestions??

Had a similar issue on our Eos, which was quickly fixed by a deep clear and a restart (on both master and client desks).

Hope that helps you out

Can you confirm which output of the splitter the DVI monitor is in? If it is in 1, the VGA won't work.

With just the DVI monitor in splitter way 1, can you lower the resolution as described?

You aren't running very old software (like 1.3ish) by any chance?

If so, be sure that monitor 2 is on the left side of monitor 1 in the External Monitor Arrangement.  If they're arranged with 1 on the left, you can see exactly what you're describing.

So I still need some help. I recently moved my console from FOH to back stage and when I pluged everything in and turned it all on, the monitor in the VGA output started working and my touch screen said it recieved no video input. I have tried deep clearing and restarting the system, I've tried to re-enable the monitor in the monitor arrangements. I'm at a loss here, any other suggestions?

If you go into the Monitor Arrangement settings, you find the advanced settings tab,

which allows you to set the resolution. Make sure that the resolution is not set higher

than that of your monitor.

How are your monitors connected to the Ion - via the DVI Splitter or directly to the DVI Ports

on the console?

Well every one I fixed it, and as you could figure it was not as big of a deal as I thought. In the external monitor arrangements all I had to do was drag the monitor that was in the "available monitors" section to the "monitor arrangements" section. Thanks for everyones help, I do appreciate it!
