hello, I have figured out how to make an effect run off of a submaster via the new update. on intelligent lights, it controls the size and on conventional lights, it controls the intensity. is there anyway that i can make it control the rate on some effect subs instead? it says you can in the manual, but i cant figure out how to. thanks!

PS - I really like the update. I like some of the features and cant wait to try the trackball feature of it. Thanks again!

To change the rate of an effect (sub or cue);

1)  Run the said effect.  2)  Hit the effect key on your console*.  You will notice on the encoder screen that fields have been populated (Rate, Size, Form, and Axis).  3)  Wheel the rate to desired value.  Note that rate is highlighted in red.  This means it is a manual value.  4)  Record/Update sub or cue.

*If you are running multiple effects you need to type effect number as well.

Hope this helps

At first I thought that your problem was in not assigning the submaster to be an effect sub, but I opened up my copy of ION offline, and it seems that the subs do only control the size of the effects by default. I did manage to get the submaster to control the rate of some effects by changing the entry type to "Fade by Size and Rate" in the effect editor. This method didn't seem to work with all effects, so maybe a more knowledgeable person could step in and straighten this out.
