I have managed to set up network setting on the Congo and Laptop using a fixed IP address. I still get no Client option on the startup on the laptop. Drivers are installed and show under sytem when I insert the dongle.

Both are running the latest update - setting seem to be the same as far as I can tell. Tried different protocols.

Any ideas

Is the CLIENT button illuminated on the Congo?  This enables/ disables client functionality.

Hi there -

Have you checked the Windows firewall settings on the PC? Is the Congo application blocked? This could keep the PC from seeing the console, which would keep the Client option from appearing on the PC as well.

Thanks -

Hi

Tried all above - client light is on, firewall if off (did show congo in exeptions) - still no client showing on Laptop - Network talking - ping from laptop working - tried with DHCP & static ip configuration.

I seem to think that the dongle is not talking to the software. It does light up and shows in system devices.

Look forward to some miracle line of advice

Thanks

Deon

2 questions:

What protocol should I be using if any

Can I name a network (network names)

 Thanks

Deon - there was a batch of "congo" dongles mispackaged earlier this year and were in fact ION client dongles. We will check our test records and let you know if its hardware or software you should look towards

do you need the serial numbers off the dongle?

Howdy Deon,

If your dongle is a correct dongle, there should be printed on the dongle *H4M1 217-50" and some serial numbers.

If printed is "PRO 321-60" and some serial number , then it will need to be replaced.

I have the PRO 321-61 - in South Africa we would say EISHH - a term of extreme exclamation and despair...

I'm a little confused - the e-mail I received from the forum referred to the opposite codes ie PRO 321-60 was correct, but on the forums the same messgae says the PRO-321-60 is the wrong one...

Hey Deon,

sorry about the confusion, after I pressed POST, I realized I had reversed the two dongles,

and then edited my message - but then it already been sent to you in an email.

SInce you have a PRO-321 Dongle, this is not for a Congo/Congo Jr Client,

and will need to be replaced. Can you please contact your dealer so they can get

you the correct dongle.

Thanks!
