Due to the fact that both ION and EOS are regular PC parts, I was able to figure out how to remotely start up our board. This is done through a simple Wake on LAN program by inserting the MAC address of the board, and viola! we have power. However, without tearing apart the board does anyone know how to remotely shut it down? Or if that's not possible, will everything work normally is we simply cut power to it? (by putting it on our sequencer- irrelevant but just in case you asked why)

Feel free to use the power on idea, works great and hopefully someone will have some insight as to the powering down.

At present there is no way to remotely power down the consoles.

You shouldn't 'yank the plug', as there is a small (but non-zero) chance of pulling the plug when either the OS or the Eos/Ion is in the middle of updating key files on the hard disk, which could require a Deep Clear or a file system check to repair.

Wake-On-Lan is supported by Eos, Ion, Eos RVI, Eos RPU, Congo Jr and Congo LightServer.

Keep on trying till you run out of cake.

Considering an Ion for our 800 seat proscenium space.  We currently have a sequencer that powers and shuts down the EXP 3.  Very handy when at the end of the night.  A remote shutdown option perhaps from the Net 3 remote would be handy.

Hi guys.  Remote shutdown is on our list of things to do.... don't yet have an ETA on it though.

Just so you know :)

We have a macro that we have fired successfully several times from our RFR.  We built it in an older software version but it doesn't appear as if you can build Macros using the CIA anymore since we have to keep importing the macro instead of just rebuilding it.  It makes channel check a lot easier since our RFRs are usually stored in the shop.

Wake on LAN sounds very useful.  What is the best way to set this up on Ion /  Ion RPU?

You can't (yet?) fire a Wake-On-LAN "Magic Packet" from any of the consoles, so you'll need a PC on the network to do the wake from.

Then all you need is a suitable Wake-On-LAN program for that computer, plus the MAC addresses of the consoles.

I'm afraid I can't recommend any particular software, but they exist for most operating systems.

Keep on trying till you run out of cake.

Hey everyone, I'm attempting to use an iPhone with a Wake on LAN app to boot my ION. Where do I find the MAC address?

Thanks!

Anne,

Is there any update on an ETA for the ability to remotely shutdown an RVI yet, or has it already been implimented and I have missed it?

Gregg, actually, we just talked about this last week.  It is not currently implemented, but is planned for either the next release or the subsequent release.   It's tied into some other system wide work we are doing.  Once its hit a specification, and we are confident it will make it in.... will advise!

Thanks much!
