This may be old news to some, but one I just discovered.

You can edit effect rate, Vert & Horiz size, axis etc, in blind the same way you can live. yay!!

Did you know that you can record the Live look without submaster contribution? [-][Sub][Record]. You can even specify a sub to exclude: [-][Sub][2][Record]

And did you know that [Next] can be used to find available output addresses in patch. .... as in:

[channel list] (type if necessary) [at] [next] [Enter] - will find the lowest numbered available address block big enough to patch your selection

[channel list] (type if necessary) [at] [2] [/] [Next] [Enter] - will find the lowest numbered available address block on universe 2.

...as above... [at] [4] [5] [Next] [Enter] - will find the next available address block higher than 45.

Did you know - [Group][Target] now first selects the channels in that target? This is a change in 1.3.1.

What does this mean?

You can now select all of the lights in Color Palette 4 without actually putting them there. Useful to see what channels are recorded in a target.

If you want to put them there (the old Group Target functionality), you can simply repeat the target - especially useful with the direct selects: [Group][FP4][FP4]. You can also use {Recall From}[FP4].

For those who miss the [select active] and [select manual] hard keys that are on the Eos, you can use the keyboard commands to access these functions on the ION.

I've found it handy to record them into a macro, and then be able to access them via direct selects.  Hazaar!

Something I found out playing around today...On ION, you can access FCB soft keys by using the encoder page keys

eg  Ch 1 [focus encoder page] [home] [enter] is the same as [1 focus home enter].

I find it useful as the encoder page keys are right there, so you don't have to reach for the touchscreen or mouse.

If you are in table view, you can also mimic pressing the intensity softkey by pressing the select button

eg.  [1][select][make null][enter] is the same as [1] [intensity][make null][enter].  Again - I find it very handy as you don't have to reach away from the face panel to get to the [intensity] button on the touchscreen or with the mouse

I am really excited about this easy method of lots of varied effects:

1. Make an Intensity Palette 1 with all lights at full.

2. Make an Intensity Palette 2 with all lights at 0.

3  Make an Absolute Effect with two Actions- Intensity Palette 1, and Intensity Pallete 2.

4  Make four or five copies of this effect, each with a diffferent Spread and/or Trail.

Now you can select any group of channels and have them do any of these effects.

I have six systems of thirty overheads and each of these effects create really cool patterns.

This also works with scrollers- Color Palette 1 (Frame 1) and Color Palette 2 (Last Frame).

So Easy!

Did you know that many of the hardkeys on Eos/Ion can be used within labels? If you're constantly creating cues labeled "Mark", you can be really lazy and say [Label][Mark][Enter]. This will even work within longer labels, such as [Label] Godot goes [Home][Enter]

[select active] and [select manual] are buried on softkeys under the [select last] button, just hold it in and you will see those options.

Also if you hit the FULL key twice it will act as LEVEL on Ion!

Thanks, I was trying to find the level button and couldn't figure out where you had buried it.  I was hoping you didn't lose it.

And I just found out that that works when you're online too.... may your faceplate never freeze during a show.  <shudder>

Another really simple fun fact, related to the above - the spacebar is your keyboard go button!
