Hi all. We are in the run-up to the release of 2.0.1 (end of May). This release is primarily to address SCRs - but there are a handful of new features, including:

Latching Data display.

Channel sub-grouping

Import Custom gobo images

Autoblock Clean up

Shift + Go and Shift + Back to cut cues (in lieu of using timing disable)

Eos touchscreen calibration

Hi - I've had two problems recently on an Eos running 2.0.0 which I thought I would report back. It's possibly me being stupid so hopefully someone can help.

1. The left touchscreen lost calibration. When I tried to calibrate it the window which displays the pink crosshairs to tap on appears halfway up the screen. There doesn't appear to be a way of dragging the window down, this means you can't tap on some of the crosshairs and so can't calibrate the screen. The right screen calibrates fine.

2. A couple of times after having moved the desk from the control room to the production desk, external monitors one and two mirror each other. Sometimes I can just exit to the shell and get them working by disabling and then enabling them, on occasions I have to actually restart the console before going in to the shell to assign them.

Can anyone assist?

Suggestion for Fixture Personality Creator

Hi Everyone,

We have a couple of cheaper moving lights that (stupidly!) have intensity and strobe on the one DMX channel. For example, in percentages, 1-50 control the intensity of the light, and 51-100 control the strobe values. I have no idea why the manufacturer decided that this was a good idea, but as these lights are relatively cheap, I guess you get what you pay for!

It would be great if there was a way to either split the DMX channel over two desk channels on the console, or if that's not possible, put a limit on the maximum value of the DMX channel (i.e. the intensity strobe channel only goes up to a DMX channel value of 127).

VDF Anzeige, Schmierfehler?

heute folgendes:

Ich erstelle eine ADD Stimmung für einen Hazer:
Der Hazer hat 2 Kanäle, Fan und Haze, ich habe einen virtuellen Dimmer hinzugefügt.
In der ADD Stimmung ist nur der Dimmer und Haze drin, der Lüfter nicht.

Diese ADD Stimmung lege ich auf einen Gruppensteller, Flashfunktion an und ich kann auf Tastendruck nebeln.
Ich drehe in der Liste (bei mir die Media Liste) den Fan auf 100%. Drücke dann die entsprechende Flashtase der Gruppe, es nebelt.
Aber der Fan wird in der Media Liste auf 0 gesetzt. Im VDF steht er nach wie vor auf 100%

Zum testen habe ich den Fan auf 5% gesetzt, dann mir DMX anzeigen lassen und die Flashtaste gedrückt.
Auch in der DMX Anzeige geht der Fan auf 0% runter. Bewege ich jetzt den entsprechenden Encoder, sprigt die DMX Anzeige auf 5%.

Die VDF Anzeige ist von dem ganzen vollkommen unbeeindruckt.

In dem Zusammenhang:
Öhm, ich wollte das jetzt bei mir zuhause noch mal mit dem Offline Editor nachvollziehen.
Aber wo finde ich da denn die Flashtasten der Gruppen...???

Element: Total number of cues in show?

Having used an Express console for many years, I have become accustommed to [About] [Enter], to detrmine the total number of cues in the show. I have recently switched to Element, and I have not been able to find the total number of cues. Is there a way to achive this?

Bug and some questions

Hi everybody.

I'm using a Congo and a Congo Jr as a backup and both have the V6.4.

What I think it's a bug is on the CONGO when I try to zoom (FORMAT+WHEEL) the dock area, on the right or left side, with MASTERS the hourglass appear and the console doesn't do nothing. It freeze everything and the big problem is that the backup remains as backup. To work again with the Congo I've got to use the Crtl+Alt+Del and only then the backup change to server. I try several times with the dock area on different monitors and it happen always this, hourglass on the top and nothing work on Congo.

Now some questions:

Congo - Why can´t I use the right Dock Area on the first monitor (right)?? Normally I use this monitor to see the Playback Tab and want to put on the right side a Dock Area with INDEPENDENT but nothing appears on the right side. On top, bottom and left no problem but on the right nothing no matter what's the Tab that is on that monitor cause I try with Live and also with Presets.

Congo - Why on the second (middle) monitor the Dock Area on the right side with MASTERS don't show any Master?? I try on the third (left) monitor and the Dock Area on the right side show all the masters I use but on the second monitor nothing appears and this happen only with the Masters.

Congo and Jr- If I use the Channel Layout on the Live tab and use the mouse to select a channel, the hourglass appears and take about 3 seconds until I can use that channel. If I use the standart view of the channels and use the mouse to select a channel, immediately I can use that channel. Why this happen??? I think that on previous versions this doesn´t happen and I say this cause I love to use the Channel Layout instead the standart view and never notice this problem before.

Server and Backup - Why the Server console is always send the play to the backup console if I don't make any changes on the play?? Yesterday, during the premiere, I press the Go key and the hourglass appear and after that a mensage on the bottom saying that the play was send to backup. I'm using this backup this last week and this sometime happen but we are, at that time, making some changes on the presets and I think it's normal send the play to backup. This last 2 days we don't do any change and during the rehearsals sometime I saw the hourglass and that message but ysterday this happen during a crossfade at the begining of the show so I disconnect the consoles just to be more safe.

can't control colour changers on 4 sub masters ION

HI everybody

I'need to control some colourchangers CMY (Fly tricorma) using 4 sub masters: 1ch dimmer, 2ch magenta, 3ch ciano, 4ch yellow.

The question is: how can sum the colors?? when I try to have the red for example (magenta + yellow) first I lift the magenta sub and when I lift the yellow sub the magenta go down.... I need that the magenta remain up...

Please help me ....

MSC over Ethernet?

Like the title says, is it possible/practicle to use MSC over Ethernet on an EOS network?

Is the protocol published, or is it necessary to disseminate the ACN messages with wireshark or similar?

IRFR use with Partitions, Multi consoles and users

I was recently working on a show using an EOS primary and Ion with client ans well 3 IRFR (2 iphones and 1 IPAD) on Version 2.0.

This goes along side with a recent post about the IRFR app with multi users.

We came across an issue durring programming that the IRFR does not care about partitons when programing and recording cues.

We set up a couple partitions. Partition 1 was set for conventions and movers. Partition 2 was set up for all video channels ( 2 hippotizers).

While video was being programed the console would put into Partition 2. Durring this time we would use the IRFR to bring up channels troubleshoot etc.. At the end the channels that were being brought up on the IRFR ended up getting programed in the cues.

Is there a way to prevent that from happening other than is another console on a different user?

Is there also a way to set IRFR to a different user or to a client console instead of the primary?

It be nice if the IRFR could be put in a mode that would not allow change levels to be programed in the console. This will allow for troubleshooting, channel checks etc to happen while programing notes and palette updates are happening and not worry about channels being accidentally programed in the show.

UEB xxx ALT

bei mir passiert zur Zeit folgendes:

Ich stelle einen BLK ins IST und damit aktiv.
Dann hole ich mir aus einem anderen BLK für einige SK die Werte mit UEB xxx ALT.
Diese Änderung wird auch ausgeführt, ins IST übernommen und ist auch aktiv.

Mir gefällt das geänderte Lichtbild, ich möchte mit S ENTER dieses speichern, aber das wird nix.
Nach UEB xxx ALT bekomme ich auch keine Änderungskennzeichnung in der AKTA Liste (da oben links neben der BLK Nummer dieser Doppelpfeil).
Nach S ENTER sagt mir die Konsole, "keine Änderung gefunden".

Mein Workaround im Moment:
Die geänderten SK sind ja noch selektiert, also mache ich eben +1 INT direkt danach wieder -1 INT, es taucht die Änderungskennung auf, S ENTER überspeichert den BLK.

Archive Obsession show files?

Is there a way to pull a set of show files off an Obsession II without going into each show and saving to a floppy disk or something?

Can you get into a shell and copy the etc\obs\show folder to an external disk?

Or is a file server required?

Opening up the case and ghosting the HD seems a bit much.

Universe unlock - intagible good?

Hi,

I received a quote for unlocking (1) additional dmx universe for an Ion console here in California. This quote had generated sales tax. As far as I understand it there is no tangible good here. Shouldn't an unlock code be non-taxed? CA tax code does not tax "intangibles"

And imo, $3200 for 4 universes in a digital world does seem a little out of date.

If someone has a recommendation for me to get more reasonable prices I'd be happy to check it out. This keycode could be purchased from any vendor world-wide I'm guessing.

IRFR Multi User

Does anyone know why on an ION / EOS with an IRFR remote you can't have multiple users working at the same time? Basically why can't one person be working on the console typing in cues, and a second person be ringing out the rig on an IRFR Ipad remote at the same time.

This was an easy task on the Obsession 2 with a multi user setup. I am confused why here we are 15+ years later and this is not a task a newer console can handle.Thoughts?

Fader Wing SOLO Button

But this should be very usefull.

Is there an Option to Change this?

GIO Dimmer Doubler Patch Display & iRFR Channel Check

We use a lot of dimmer doubling in our venue. The patch display shows some of the doubled dimmers as 3B or 115B but shows others as there raw DMX (+256) value. All dimmers are working properly, though this display can cause confusion when one verifies tha patch.

I have unpatched and deleted channels then repatched the 256+ dimmers and they will not display as xB.

Channel Check behaivior with the iRFR is also odd: If I start at address 99, when I get to 101A it displays as 101. 101B dispalys normally, then the next address is 256. This happens every time.

Flexi Bug?

I've been programming a show on an ion (running 2.0 release) this week, and I keep running into this bug where flexi-patched shows no channels. I haven't found a reliable way to reproduce it yet, because it doesn't happen every time, but on a regular basis, if I'm looking at Flexi-Patched in Live, and then edit a cue in blind, when I return to live Flexi-Patched is empty. If I page through all of the flexi views the channels return, but if I softkey flexi+patched it does not.

Some details about the setup that I remember (not my house, so I don't know everything):

1) All channels are patched to RDM sensor dimmers

2) Ion + RVI

3) Everything (well, it's just dimmers) controlled directly over sACN

4) It doesn't happen every time

New fixture library, older software

Hi.
One of our consoles, for various reasons, won't be updated to v2 for another couple of months - but there's a fixture that's just been included in the Eos Family v2.0.0 Library Changes v8.7.0 Build 22 file which we could do with using. My question is, is it possible to install this latest fixture library patch on a console that's still running v1.9.12 software?

Connect with the client from a PC

I have had nothing but problems connecting with the client software since upgrading to 2.0. I am currently connected directly to the back of the desk in network port 1.

The desk IP address is 10.101.91.101 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0

No dhcp

The laptop running the client software 2.0 with the address set to 10.101.91.103 subnet mask of 255.255.255.0

I can ping the desk from the laptop but am unable to ping the computer from the desk. HELP! I have a show that I really need the remote for this evening.

Microh Led Tribar profile

Hello All, I have tried to create a profile for my Microh LED tri bars in 6 channel mode. Here is the dmx chart for the fixture http://microhpro.com/products/ledtribar/ledtribar-dmx.pdf

I can control red green blue no problem. But if I attempt to use any of the macros or strobe effects, not only does the button not show i selected it, I cannot home the attribute. and then for some crazy reason the lamp turns white, and I lose all control of the led colour control.

I then have to unplug and replug the tribar to make the red green and blue work again.

This is the first time i have tried to create a custom profile. and I followed the manual instructions but im stumped. Any help would be appreciated.

Also my console is software version 2, not the beta.

Loss of Color Data in cue list

After a patch import and re-patching of scrollers (And a couple of days where i might have done something else) my cue lists no longer have color data

I have several lists in 1 show file, and the are all purged of color.

If a Chanel loses its second part (scroller) does it also lose all of the data related to that?

On page 110 of the new manual, according to errors n warnings, what I am understanding is that you don't need to record loads from dimstat any longer ? Is this correct? By attaching you automatically have loads recorded?

The manual reads it will see the red ! and reads a lamp out? Would it do this if you have two units twofered?

ETCNET 3 Console on ETCNET 1

My Obsession II is on it's last legs, and I need a reliable console to run a couple of shows before I upgrade the lighting system this summer. I can get a loaner. I can get a GIO 2K loaner, but my house system is ETCNET 1. Is there any piece of hardware our there that will convert an ETCNET 3 signal from the GIO to ETCNET 1?
