On originals vs. copies

"Shouldn’t copying something be easier than creating it? Someone else already did the work, right? The problem is that the work on the original is invisible. The copier doesn’t know why it looks the way it looks or feels the way it feels or reads the way it reads. The copied interface is a faux finish."

# re: On originals vs. copies

This is almost as tough a question as which came first the chicken or the egg. A copy can be better then the original but that is only when the copier is looking to improve on the original. I most cases the copier is only looking to react to the original and cash in on its success. If the creator of the original does not work to improve its work it is easy for a copier to beat them to the punch, now the original is reactive to the copier. One of the hardest things to do in life is to be the original, some people are always looking to go first, others prefer to follow.
