Chop Wood, Carry Water. 

This is what we do before enlightenment. This is what we do after enlightenment.

Stacking firewood is an art in Bavaria. I noticed this the first time I ever came here - but I am now struck by how significant the Art of stacking wood is. This morning I photographed the Art.

Thanks Cori - I appreciated the link and a few of her trackback links were good.

One of the facets of the Koan or proverb or (whatever it is,) is that we must always be of service to ouselves. We don't get to coast for long. Buddha said "To be idle is a short road to death and to be diligent is a way of life; foolish people are idle, wise people are diligent."

When I pay attention (another topic to discuss) I notice the diligence of others and it inspires me. The wood stacking of Bavaria is inspiring me to think about my role in putting order in my life.
